Missing Pasadena Woman Identified As Hit-And-Run Victim
PASADENA, Md. (WJZ) --- Police have confirmed the body of a hit-and-run victim is that of a missing Pasadena woman.
Monique Griego reports Samantha Kreppel, 20, disappeared Sunday while walking home.
Anne Arundel County Police have been searching for clues in the woods off Bayside Beach Road and Belhaven Avenue after a passerby found the woman's body in the brush.
Police believe the victim was hit by a car. The driver didn't stop.
"I was walking up the street handing flyers out to all the neighbors and that's when I saw somebody had passed saying they'd found the body on the side of the road," said Taylor Mills, boyfriend.
At the time, Mills had no idea it was Kreppel, his missing girlfriend who disappeared Sunday while walking home along the same stretch of road.
Police are now trying to trying to track down the car they believe is connected to the hit-and-run.
"I hope they find it. It was a tragic thing that happened to her," Mills said.
Evidence points to a 1982-1985 Mercedes 300, 400 or 500 series passenger car. It may have damage to the right front end, hood, fender and glass damage.
"We are actively investigating this and certainly in the early stages. Every bit of information we can get would certainly be beneficial to us," said Justin Mulcahy, Anne Arundel County Police.
Neighbors tell WJZ this isn't the first time someone has been hit and killed while walking along that road. They say it's very dangerous.
"I'm not surprised. It's pretty dangerous out here because they speed both ways," a man said.
While police say pedestrian error may to be to blame for the accident, neighbors are struggling to understand how someone could hit a person and leave them to die.
"It's the difference between an accident and murder," said Jack Charron, neighbor. "The 10 minutes or 15 minutes it takes someone else to find that person could make the difference of that person living or dying."
Police are asking anyone with information to call them. You may be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
