Mike Bordick Previews Orioles West Coast Road Trip
With an important west coast road trip coming up, MASN's Mike Bordick joined the Scott Garceau show with Jeremy Conn to talk Orioles baseball.
The Orioles travel to Oakland tonight to kickoff a nine game road trip, and Mike discussed how difficult these kinds of trips can be for players. "They're tough, especially the first couple of days. It's going to make it advantage Oakland so the Orioles are really going to need to heighten their focus somehow. I think this first series is really going to be the most important on this road trip. It could potentially set the tone."
If the Orioles want to have a successful road trip, they will need Manny Machado to stay hot both at the plate and in the field. Mike discussed how he thinks Machado is the best defensive third baseman in the game and believes he is only going to get better. "I think it's a no doubter. He just has exceptional range. He has an incredible arm and his instincts keep getting better and better. I don't even think we have seem him at his best believe it or not."
Mike also mentioned that there is one thing that could take Machado's game to a whole other level. "He has good focus. I think that's the only downside right now, if there's any. He has good focus. If he had great focus, he would be hands-down the best player in the game."
