Midshipmen Arrive By Sail For Visit In Charleston
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Midshipmen from the United States Naval Academy are arriving by sail in Charleston.
The sailors arrive Friday from the academy in Annapolis, Md., in four 44-foot sailing vessels.
The sail to South Carolina is part of an offshore professional development program that allows the midshipmen to use the skills they learned in their first year at the academy.
Three of their boats will be docked at the Charleston Maritime Center and one at Patriot's Point across Charleston Harbor.
The public will be able to visit the boats Saturday and Sunday.
