Midshipman Found Guilty Of Unlawful Entry
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A U.S. Naval Academy spokesman says a midshipman has been found guilty of unlawful entry, but a military jury acquitted him of charges of abusive sexual contact and burglary.
The spokesman, Cmdr. John Schofield, said Friday a jury sentenced Midshipman Patrick Slack to 60 days of restriction to the academy's campus.
Slack, a senior who did not graduate in May because of the case, was accused of entering a student's room and touching her breast.
The superintendent will review the record of trial and decide on the final disposition of the case. The student faces a range of possible sanctions, including expulsion.
A separate case involving allegations that three football players raped a student has moved ahead to Article 32 hearings to determine whether there is evidence for a court-marital.
