Mid-Atlantic Breaks, Match Heat Records
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The mid-Atlantic region endured another sweltering day, breaking temperature records and tying one set more than 135 years ago.
The National Weather Service reports that the mercury reached 102 degrees at Ronald Reagan National Airport on Thursday, matching a record set in 1874. At Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall, the temperature hit 100 degrees, breaking the previous record of 98 set in 1933.
New Castle Airport in Delaware reached 97 degrees, breaking the 1984 record of 96 degrees.
