Michelle Obama Dons Md.-Native Designer's Dress For DNC Speech
BALTIMORE (WJZ/AP) -- Michelle Obama was among the line-up of prime time speakers on the first day of the Democratic National Convention Monday, and she wore a dress made by a designer who calls Annapolis his home town.
Christian Siriano was the season four winner of Bravo's "Project Runway" in 2007, and has been carving out a significant space for himself in the fashion world ever since.
The First Lady's frock was a bright blue, A-line, cap-sleeve custom dress made of silk crepe and included high-belt detailing.
This is not the first time Siriano, who married longtime boyfriend Brad Walsh in Connecticut earlier this month, has made headlines recently.
After "Ghostbusters" star Leslie Jones complained on Twitter in June that no designers wanted to dress her for the film's premiere, Siriano stepped up to the task, creating a stunning red, off-the-shoulder number for her.
He also teamed up with plus-sized women's clothing shop Lane Bryant to create an exclusive collection this past spring.
