Michael Phelps' Under Armour Commercial Wins 'Ad of the Year'
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Michael Phelps is taking home yet another title thanks to his 'Rule Yourself' ad with Under Armour. The ad was voted the best of 2016 and wins "Ad of the Year" from AdWeek.
Droga5, a New York City-based global advertising agency, produced the Olympians' ad along with director Martin de Thurah.
AdWeek said, "The finished spot was astonishing, using darkness to paradoxically shed new light on one of the planet's biggest stars—and the physical and psychological cost of dedicating one's life to swimming."
Set to the "The Last Goodbye" by the Kills, Under Armour's ad explores the "rigors of training through the lens of Michael Phelps ahead of his final Olympics in Rio."
"Legacies like his are built over a lifetime like this. Michael Phelps returns for one last time."
This was Phelps' reaction to seeing the ad for the first time.
