Michael Beller Believes The Terps Could Make A Run
Michael Beller of Sports Illustrated joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn and Ken Weinman filling in for Scott. Michael covers College Hoops for SI and took a look at the College Basketball landscape heading into Conference Tournament time. Kentucky currently sits at Number One in the country with just one loss. Jeremy asks Michael if Kentucky can win the tourney. "I think that they can really pull this off. The SEC does have some pretty nice teams, teams that we are expecting to see somewhere around the 7 or 8 range in the NCAA Tournament. They're going to play a few of those teams coming up soon, Georgia tonight the first team that will kick that off. But I think that they can really do this, since those back to back overtime games against Ole Miss and Texas A&M they have blown out everyone in their path. Just one of their past six games have been decided by less than 15 points."
Ken asked Michael where Maryland fits in the national picture. "I really like Maryland, even with some recent reversals against Indiana and Ohio State, that they are the second best team in the Big Ten, of course everyone in the Big Ten is looking up to Wisconsin and that is most likely going to be the case as we head deeper into February and into the NCAA Tournament. But I think Maryland is team that can do some damage in the tourney. I do our Bracket Watch every week on SI.com, and I have had them safely in the top 16 so seated in one of the top four spots in any of the regions."
