Metro Teams With Google To Provide Rail, Bus Info
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Google has announced a new partnership with Metro to add the transit agency's rail and bus schedules to Google Maps.
Metro General Manager Richard Sarles said Thursday the partnership would give customers an easier way to access transit information. He says there will be a seamless network to take riders from bus lines to Metro to MARC trains and Amtrak.
Google already had partnered with many other transit agencies.
Metro had been a holdout.
Beyond Metro, the Google Transit product carries schedules and routes for bus lines including Montgomery County's Ride On bus, the D.C. Circulator and Loudoun County Transit.
The service also is available on mobile phones.
