Metro Providing Extra Service On July Fourth
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro says it is providing extra rail service on July Fourth for people attending celebrations on the National Mall and a Washington Nationals game.
Metro began operating at 7 a.m. Monday and will continue providing service until midnight.
The transit agency also says the Smithsonian Metro station will be closed for most of the day. Customers are advised to use other stations to get to the National Mall for the fireworks display. The Smithsonian station will re-open for entry only after the fireworks.
The Nationals are scheduled to play the Chicago Cubs at 1:05 p.m.
