Meetings Set For Wage Bill, Health Exchange Panel
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley plans to testify in support of a minimum wage increase when House and Senate committees take up the bill this week.
The bill would raise Maryland's hourly wage to $10.10 by July 2016. O'Malley, who has made the bill a top legislative priority, is set to testify before the House Economic Matters Committee on Tuesday afternoon and the Senate Finance Committee on Thursday.
Also, on Monday, a new panel assigned to oversee the state's health exchanged will have its first public meeting.
The bipartisan panel includes five senators and five members of the House of Delegates. It will oversee the fixing of technological problems and try to help more people sign up before the March 31 enrollment deadline.
The panel will meet every two or three weeks.
