Md. Woman Is Injured After Vehicle Strikes Tire
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a West Virginia woman has been injured after her vehicle struck a tire that came loose from a van on Interstate 70.
Authorities said in a news release that Rosemarie Ann Smith, 41, of Martinsburg, W.Va., was taken to Meritus Medical Center with minor injuries after the Tuesday crash. Police say she was traveling west on I-70 at Downsville Pike when her 2004 Dodge Caravan struck the loose tire.
Police say the tire came from a 2004 Ford E350 van driven by Felipe Ayala of Ashtabula, Ohio. Authorities say Ayala was cited for operating an unsafe motor vehicle.
