Md. Woman Gets 6 Years In ID Theft Scheme
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- A 37-year-old Maryland woman has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years in federal prison for using stolen identities to pass nearly $270,000 in counterfeit checks in three states and the District of Columbia.
Latrenda Fleming of District Heights was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga in Alexandria, Va. Fleming pleaded guilty in December to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Court documents state that Fleming used at least seven stolen driver's licenses and counterfeit personal checks bearing their names to make purchases at more than 40 stores in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. Fleming has a history of fraud convictions dating to 1993.
