Md. Woman Gets 5 Months Prison In Theft Case
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Prosecutors say a Maryland woman who pleaded guilty to stealing more than $86,000 from a foundation based at Georgetown University Hospital will spend five months in prison.
Frankie Renee Kennedy, 35, of Largo, Md. was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Washington. Kennedy pleaded guilty in November to interstate transportation of stolen property and agreed to pay full restitution.
According to court documents, Kennedy worked at Georgetown from 1998 until 2010 and was responsible for the Transplant Institute Foundation. The foundation provided financial aid to poor transplant patients.
Prosecutors say in 2005, Kennedy began writing checks to herself from the foundation's account, using a doctor's signature stamp without the physician's permission.
