Md. Woman Charged With Taking $275K From Employer
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Carroll County woman is charged in a scheme to take more than $275,000 from the roofing company where she worked.
A federal grand jury returned an indictment Tuesday charging Sandra Klaus of Hampstead, who worked as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant at Tri-County Roofing and Sheet Metal in Westminster, with mail fraud.
The 12-count indictment alleges that since 2007, Klaus diverted company funds to pay personal credit card bills, cashed checks issued to a fictitious employee and inserted her name as payee on checks she was given to make payments for the business. Klaus is accused of secretly setting up a connection to the company's server to make fraudulent entries into the accounting system from home
