Md. Warden, Officers On Leave During Force Probe
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The warden of the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center, a major and six corrections officers are on administrative leave while officials investigate allegations of excessive force being used against a detainee.
The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services announced Friday evening that the eight employees will be on leave pending the outcome of the internal investigative unit's probe.
Officials say a 26-year old woman, who was brought into Central Booking on minor charges on Jan. 8, was taken to a local hospital after the alleged incident and later released with no life-threatening injuries.
The Division of Pretrial Detention and Services, which operates Central Booking and the Baltimore City Detention Center, has begun an administrative review.
