Md. To Seek Death Penalty In 4 Slayings
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- The Prince George's County State's Attorney says she will seek the death penalty for a Texas man accused of fatally shooting four people, including two children, in August.
Angela Alsobrooks said Friday that she would seek the death penalty against Darrell Lynn Bellard, 44, of Dickinson, Texas.
Bellard and Tkeisha Nicole Gilmer, 18, also of Texas, were charged with murder in the slayings.
The bodies of 3-year-old Shayla Shante Sikyala; 4-year-old Shakur Sylvester Sikyala; their mother, 38-year-old Dawn Yvette Brooks, and their aunt, 41-year-old Mwasiti Sikyala, 41 were found in a trash-filled apartment above a detached garage in Lanham.
Police said the victims were shot to death.
No trial date has been set.
