Md. State Police Make Arrest After Body Of Missing Uber Driver Found In NC
BALTIMORE (WJZ/AP) — Maryland State Police say they have made an arrest in Annapolis after police in North Carolina say officers have found a body they believe to be that of a missing Uber driver.
Maryland State Police say the arrest took place around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning when troopers identified a stolen vehicle on the Bay Bridge.
Family members reported Marlo Johnis Medina-Chevez missing after he went to work Saturday night and didn't return home. Police said the family has been notified of the discovery.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a statement on Thursday that its homicide unit located a man's body in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and they believe it's Medina-Chevez. Authorities haven't positively identified the body.
On Tuesday, officials said investigators found that a credit card belonging to Medina-Chevez was used in Maryland.
Police say at the time of the traffic stop on Monday, there were four people in the car. All four individuals were arrested, but two were later released.
Two of the suspects in the murder of the Uber driver are being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
Investigators say there are warrants for murder and kidnapping issued for the suspects, who have not been named.
