Md. Scouts Sell Tickets For Antietam Re-Enactment
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Organizers of a major Civil War battle re-enactment near Sharpsburg say they have enlisted local Boy Scouts to sell tickets.
Civil War Heritage Inc. says the Mason-Dixon Boy Scout Council will receive a share of the proceeds from each ticket sold for the 150th anniversary re-enactment of the Battle of Antietam Sept. 15-16.
The group says it's working with Boy Scout leaders to bring groups of scouts to the event.
The event will be held on private land several miles north of Antietam National Battlefield. It's one of two large re-enactments planned ahead of the Sept. 17 anniversary.
On the weekend of Sept. 8-9, Rear Rank Productions and the Southern Division will stage a re-enactment on private land near Boonsboro, a few miles northwest of the battlefield.
