Md. Prison Makes Memorial To Public Safety Workers
CRESAPTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A state prison in Allegany County is dedicating a memorial to public safety workers made of bricks salvaged from the Baltimore Coliseum.
The ceremony is set for Wednesday morning at the North Branch Correctional Institution near Cumberland.
The structure is a wall made of bricks salvaged from the Baltimore arena that was demolished in 2008. Inmates cleaned the bricks.
Officials say Warden Bobby Shearin conceived the memorial. It's dedicated to military, law enforcement, fire, rescue and correctional workers.
