Md. Police Trainer Is Named Police Chief In Utah
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The director of the Hagerstown Community College Police Academy is leaving to become a police chief in Utah.
John King tells The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that he's been hired as chief in the city of Provo. He was the first director of the police academy, whose inaugural class started in January.
King has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, previously serving as chief of the Gaithersburg police department. He's also worked for the police departments in Baltimore City and Montgomery County.
A community college spokeswoman says King, who is 55 years old, submitted his resignation on Wednesday.
