Md. Officials Inspecting Bridges For Flood Damage
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Officials are inspecting bridges around Maryland for possible damage from flooding caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee.
Maryland Emergency Management Agency spokesman Ed Hopkins says state highway and natural resources crews are inspecting bridges and other infrastructure statewide on Saturday.
Crews are also looking for any potentially hazardous debris, such as propane tanks or other fuel tanks, that may have washed downstream.
Gov. Martin O'Malley and Maryland's congressional delegation has asked the White House to declare a federal emergency so the state can apply for federal disaster aid.
