Md. Museum Plans Look At St. Patrick's Day Flood

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A museum in Cumberland is looking for people who remember a disastrous flood 75 years ago.

The Allegany Museum says it's creating an exhibit about the St. Patrick's Day Flood of 1936. The exhibit will open March 19.

Researcher Andrew Sparber says the flood affected 16 mid-Atlantic states. In Cumberland, it displaced 1,200 families and caused more than $3 million in damage.

Sparber says he's collected maps, photographs and newsreel footage. Now he's looking for witnesses willing to have their stories recorded or speak at the exhibit opening.
