Man & Woman Face Multiple Drug Charges After Howard Co. Police Pursuit
LAUREL, Md. (WJZ)—Howard County police have charged two people who led officers on a vehicle pursuit as a drug search warrant was being served on their motel room.
Michael Lee Felder, 35, and Kayla Lauren Miller, 25, both of 9126 Springhill Lane in Greenbelt, were charged overnight with various drug and gun charges.
In the motel room search, officers found two handguns, ammunition, cash, drugs and drug paraphernalia. Searches of both suspects when they were arrested also revealed drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police were at the Turf Motel in the 9800 block of Washington Blvd. in Laurel around 5 p.m. Thursday to serve a search and seizure warrant as part of an ongoing drug investigation. As police were preparing to serve the warrant, they saw Felder and Miller enter a 2003 Ford Taurus and drive off.
Police attempted to make a traffic stop, but Felder, who was driving, refused to stop.
Howard County officers followed the car, which traveled at reasonable speeds on various roadways, through multiple jurisdictions until the suspect vehicle stopped on southbound I-95 near I-695.
Felder and Miller were arrested without incident.
Felder has been charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, and numerous other drug charges, as well as multiple gun charges, and fleeing and eluding police. Miller is facing charges of drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia and gun charges.
They are currently being processed at the Howard County Detention Center and are awaiting bond hearings.
