Md. Man Sentenced To 17 Years For Robberies
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A man who prosecutors say targeted Hispanic men to rob because he did not believe they would show up in court has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Mark Anthony Hawkins, 25, of Glen Burnie was sentenced Tuesday. The Capital of Annapolis reports that he had entered an Alford plea to two counts of robbery.
Prosecutors say Hawkins committed the robberies near the apartment complex where he lived. Police say in some of the robberies, the suspect would approach the victims from behind, then kick and punch them.
