Md. Man Sentenced To 15 Months In Police Chase
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A man who led police on a car chase through downtown Hagerstown has been sentenced to 15 months in jail.
Matthew Hunt Jr., 39, of Hagerstown was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing and eluding police. He was also ordered to pay nearly $3,500 in restitution for damage to police cruisers.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that prosecutors say Hunt was pulled over by a patrol officer on Jan. 24, but sped away when the officer got out of his cruiser.
Authorities chased Hunt through downtown streets for about 15 minutes. He struck two police cars before he was stopped and arrested.
