Md. Man Sentenced In W.Va. Robbery And Slaying
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- A Maryland man has been sentenced for his role in the slaying of a West Virginia woman during a home invasion.
A Berkeley County Circuit Court jury convicted Roy L. Wisotzkey of Hagerstown, Md., on felony murder, first-degree robbery and other charges in August.
Media outlets report that a judge sentenced Wisotzkey, 36, on Monday to life with mercy on the murder charge and 50 years on the robbery charge. Wisotzkey will be eligible for parole after serving 15 years of the murder sentence.
Prosecutors say Wisotzkey and Joshua Stitley of Hancock, Md., killed Stitley's mother, 57-year-old Vickie Clem, and wounded her husband, Jack W. Clem on May 26, 2011 during a home invasion at their Falling Waters home.
Stitley is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 13.
