Man Sentenced In Credit Card Fraud
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A Fort Washington man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison in a credit card fraud scheme that cost merchants more than $163,000.
Reginald Harold Jeffries, 36, was also ordered to pay restitution at sentencing on Monday.
According to his guilty plea, Jeffries obtained credit cards in his own name and fictitious names. Prosecutors say Jeffries purchased items on installment plans and closed the accounts, preventing merchants from being paid.
Jeffries sold many of the items at online auctions.
