Md. Man Says Rowdy Airbnb Guests Left Him A Mess
HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland man says two women who rented his home through the website Airbnb threw a party and left a big mess.
A local television station reports Mike Novak rented his Hyattsville house last weekend. He says that while he was away, his guests hosted a house party.
Novak says a fight broke out in the backyard and that the partygoers broke through a neighbor's fence. He says partygoers also left behind dozens of liquor and beer bottles, cigar wrappers and even underwear.
Novak says he contacted Airbnb about the damage under what the company calls their "host guarantee," which is supposed to cover damage up to $1,000,000. Airbnb told the television station that problems like what Novak experienced are rare and that it is working to reimburse him.
