Md. Man Pleads Guilty In Friend's Traffic Death
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Frederick man faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide in the drunk-driving death of a friend.
Jose Izaguirre Calderon, 23, entered the plea Wednesday in Frederick County Circuit Court. It included an acknowledgement that he was driving under the influence of alcohol when his Honda Civic veered off of Mount Tabor Road near Myersville in August.
Two passengers were thrown from the car. One of them, Roberto Monarca, 42, was killed.
Izaguirre Calderon will be sentenced June 27.
He also faces a probation violation hearing Wednesday. At the time of the crash, he was on probation stemming from an earlier drunk-driving charge.
