Md. Man Pleads Guilty To Navy Recycling Theft
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- The U.S. Attorney's office says a Lusby man has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $630,000 from the sale of Navy scrap metal.
Prosecutors said Monday that Christopher M. Hill, 46, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt as part of a plea agreement that also requires him to pay more than $630,000 in restitution to the Navy and more than $134,000 to the Internal Revenue Service. Hill also faces up to 10 years for embezzlement and three years for filing a false tax return at sentencing Feb. 6.
The U.S. Attorney's office says Hill was a civilian employee at the Washington Naval Yard. Prosecutors say he was responsible for recycling for the Naval District of Washington, which includes facilities in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
