Man Pleads Guilty To $485,000 Travel Fraud

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a Crofton, Md., man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for submitting false travel claims totaling more than $485,000 to an agency of the Department of Defense.

John R. Brock, 52, was also ordered to pay restitution and to forfeit three sailboats and two residential properties. He had pleaded guilty in October to a criminal information charging him with one count of making a false claim against the United States.

According to court documents, Brock was a budget analyst with the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. In his guilty plea, Brock admitted to submitting 99 false travel vouchers through the defense travel system from 2008 through 2011.
