Md. Man Imprisoned For Growing Pot At Strip Mall
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Sharpsburg man is going to prison for growing marijuana in a strip-mall store that was leased as a computer business.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown newspaper reports that Chad Frobouck, 33, was sentenced Thursday in Hagerstown to a five-year term with five more years suspended.
Frobouck's landlord called police in August after finding dozens of marijuana plants in the shop. He testified that he entered the building because Frobouck was late with his rent.
Investigators found 152 pot plants along with scales, special lighting and instruction manuals for growing marijuana.
Frobouck's former wife testified that he grew the pot to raise money to visit their children in Florida.
His defense attorney argued that Frobouck's signature on a lease didn't prove he was the grower.
