Md. Man Gets Probation For Dumping Fill Into Bay
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A Calvert County man has been sentenced to probation for illegally discharging fill material into the Chesapeake Bay.
David Ector must remove the fill material from the bay as a condition of his sentence, which was imposed Wednesday in federal court in Greenbelt.
Prosecutors say Ector, 55, owned a cliff-front property in Calvert County and, in May 2010, was responsible for dumping large rocks over the cliff face and into the bay without a permit. Prosecutors say the dumping interfered with the habitat of an endangered species.
