Man Gets 40 Years In Child Abuse Death Case
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Hagerstown man has been sentenced to 40 years for the death of girlfriend's 2-year-old son.
Thirty-four-year-old Brian Michael Miller was sentenced Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court. Miller faced up to 65 years in prison after pleading guilty in September to abuse charges. The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that Circuit Judge John H. McDowell sentenced Miller to the maximum of 30 years for first-degree child abuse resulting in death and 10 years on a second-degree child abuse charge.
Miller received a 15-year suspended sentence on another second-degree child abuse charge, and five years of probation after release.
Investigators say the boy hit his head when Miller pushed him to the floor of the home they shared. Logan told police he was angry because the boy trashed a bedroom.
