Man Gets 12 Years For Crash That Killed 2
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A Montgomery County man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a drunken driving crash that killed two friends who were crossing the road.
Alejandro Roman apologized at his sentencing Wednesday, calling his actions early on Oct. 10 stupid and reckless.
Roman, 25, is a former Army reservist who served in Iraq.
Prosecutors say his blood-alcohol level was well above the legal limit on the night of the crash and that he never called 911 despite stopping his car to look at the victims. Prosecutors sought a 20-year sentence, the maximum possible punishment for Roman's crime of manslaughter.
The two victims -- Adam J. Hosinski and Rory J. Weichbrod, both 26 -- were out celebrating a friend's birthday and were struck as they tried to cross Rockville Pike.
