Md. Man Gets 10 Years For Abuse Of Autistic Girl
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Thurmont man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for fondling a 13-year-old girl who has a form of autism.
John Salvi, 72, pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor. He was sentenced Thursday to 25 years with all but 10 years suspended.
Prosecutors say the victim has the intellectual capabilities of a 7-to-9-year-old because of her autism. The girl lived in the same apartment complex as Salvi. According to prosecutors, she used to visit his apartment regularly. Prosecutors say Salvi admitted that he fondled the girl's genitals through her clothing and rubbed his genitals on her.
According to The Frederick News-Post, his attorney, Margaret Teahan, said Salvi did not have a criminal history and has no children.
