Md. Man Convicted Of Killing Law Student In Jealous Rage
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A former grad student has been convicted of killing a high school friend in a jealous rage.
Twenty-five-year-old Rahul Gupta of Silver Spring was convicted Monday of first-degree murder for fatally stabbing 24-year-old Mark Waugh.
Prosecutors say on October 13, 2013, Gupta, Gupta's girlfriend and Waugh went to Gupta's Silver Spring apartment after a night of drinking. Authorities say Gupta believed his girlfriend was cheating on him with Waugh.
Gupta and Waugh were friends from high school. Waugh was a law student at Georgetown University; Gupta was pursuing a master's degree at George Washington University.
Gupta faces life in prison at sentencing on April 16.
