Md. Man Charged With 1st-Degree Rape Enters Alford Plea
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- An Arnold man has entered an Alford plea to felony first-degree rape in an attack on a woman in her home.
Twenty-three-year-old George Christopher Kinzer III entered the plea in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Wednesday. An Alford plea lets a defendant maintain his innocence while admitting that prosecutors have enough evidence to convict.
Prosecutors tell The Capital of Annapolis that they will seek a 30-year sentence for Kinzer at sentencing Oct. 1.
Prosecutors say Kinzer went to the woman's home on July 22, 2012 and forced his way in when she answered a knock at the door. Authorities say Kinzer raped the woman, then asked for her phone number before leaving.
