Md. Man Charged In Fatal Accidental Shooting Of Young Son
HEBRON, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a Wicomico County man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of his 4-year-old son.
Maryland State Police say 29-year-old Jamal A. Woolford Sr., of Hebron, was arrested late Tuesday after being indicted by a grand jury in the shooting earlier this month. Police say Woolford also was charged with reckless endangerment, among other charges.
Police say the boy accidentally shot himself and wounded his mother while she was asleep on March 5. The boy was taken to a hospital in Salisbury, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities say investigators determined that the boy got the gun in the bedroom where his father kept it.
Woolford is being held in the Wicomico County Detention Center without bond.
