Md. Man Arrested In Carjacking, Fatal Ambulance Crash
GREENBELT, Md. (WJZ) -- Prince George's County police have arrested a Silver Spring man the carjacking of an ambulance Sunday evening that turned into a fatal crash.
Sebastian Isaksen, 34, of 2800 Beechbank Drive, has been charged with carjacking, assault, and charges related to the carjacking. He could also be charged in the fatal collision as well.
PGPD were called to the 6200 block of Greenbelt Road for a report of an armed carjacking. Police say the suspect took a Branchville Volunteer Fire Department ambulance after they stopped to help him in a separate accident on the Capital Beltway.
Isaken allegedly assaulted the crew, then jumped into the ambulance and drove away.
When he exited the Beltway in Greenbelt, he struck three occupied vehicles and then left the roadway hitting nine other cars before overturning in a restaurant parking lot.
The driver of a Mercedes, 77-year-old Alvin Hargrave, of Greenbelt, died after sustaining injuries from the crash.
A 36-year-old pregnant woman, who was riding in the Mercedes, was transported to a hospital where she remains in stable condition.
The other occupants in other cars were not injured.
The suspect suffered serious injuries and is in a hospital under police custody.
