Md. Man Accused Of Stealing Government Property
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Severn man has been indicted on a charge of theft of government property after metal cabinets were stolen from a warehouse that stored property owned by the Social Security Administration.
Samuel Morales, 54, was indicted Wednesday.
According to the indictment, Morales worked for a contractor that provided security at the warehouse in Hanover. Prosecutors say last month, Morales and others stole 15 metal cabinets containing microfiche and drove them away in two pickup trucks.
Authorities say Morales burned the microfiche and sold the cabinets as scrap. The microfiche cost more than $200,000 to replace.
