Montgomery Co. Mall Evacuated After Restaurant Fire
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- The Westfield Wheaton mall in Montgomery County was evacuated after a fire at a chicken restaurant.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue assistant chief Scott Graham says there were no injuries as a result of Saturday's fire, and the mall was evacuated as a precaution. Graham says firefighters are investigating what caused the blaze at the Crisp & Juicy Peruvian rotisserie chicken restaurant.
The restaurant, which has more than half a dozen locations in Maryland and Virginia, is known for a Latin American barbecuing method in which whole chickens are roasted on a spit over a charcoal fire.
Large fans were used to clear the mall of smoke, and the mall reopened after 2:30 p.m.
