Md. Lottery Awards Ravens Fan Tickets For The Next 20 Seasons
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Ravens season ticket holders recently received their annual notice to pay for their seats. But one lucky person received a set of tickets to the next 20 seasons that comes at no cost.
Mike Schuh has the story.
Dance all you want, but the cheapest seat at M&T Bank Stadium is $67. The most expensive goes for $370. Even so, you still have to buy a $750-$8,000 seat license if you want to go the entire season.
There has to be a way around it.
Four finalists found the way to sit with a friend in the club level for free—courtesy of the Maryland State Lottery.
This is the lottery's second chance drawing for losing tickets.
Mikala Handakakas is representing her Aunt Dorothy, who had surgery.
If auntie won, she'd go: "Whoaa!" Handakakas shouted.
Dan from Baltimore thinks he'd be a bit more reserved.
"I will be speechless," he said.
And for former Bethlehem Steel worker Vernon Miller from Bel Air, his reaction would be "Go Ravens!" he said.
The ultimate prize: 20 years, great seats and $230,000 worth of entertainment!
"And the winner of the Maryland Lottery's Mega Power Promotion seats for 20 years is," said Carole Everett as the finalists held onto her every word. "Vernon Miller."
"Oh, my God. I don't believe it," Miller said.
Don't feel bad for the other finalists. They all got $5,000.
Miller has only ever been to two games. He has three kids and three grandkids but knows who's going to be sitting next to him at game one: his wife Patricia. Then the kids and the grandkids get to see what the club level is like.
Should the Ravens have any postseason success during the next 20 years, Miller would have to actually pay for his seats to go see those games.
