Md. Inmate Walks Away From Work Release Job
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Police and corrections officials in Maryland are looking for an inmate who walked away from his work assignment.
Police say Jermaine Jeter, 30, left a Baltimore detention facility Friday morning and never reported to his scheduled work-release job at an area Checkers restaurant.
Authorities say Jeter was nearing the end of a prison sentence for second-degree murder. Prison spokesman Mark Vernarelli says inmates such as Jeter are given work-release jobs to help with their transition back to society.
