Md. Inmate Dead After Brutal Beating
JESSUP, Md. (WJZ) -- A Maryland state inmate is dead after being badly assaulted behind bars.
Police say Javaughn Young, 26, died from his injuries shortly after he was beaten at the state prison in Jessup.
Correctional officers found Young lying in a walkway Thursday with a head injury.
He was taken to Shock Trauma in critical condition, and died early Friday.
Another inmate at the prison has been identified as a suspect in Young's death.
Investigators have conducted more than 60 interviews with prisoners assigned to the wing where the assault took place.
