Md. Inmate Guilty Of Murdering Cellmate
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland state prison inmate faces 20 more years of incarceration after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the beating and asphyxiation of his cellmate at the Western Correctional Institution near Cumberland.
Kim Hargett, 28, entered the plea Thursday in Allegany County Circuit Court. The sentence pushes his expected release date back to 2055.
Hargett was charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Blas Ramon Mata-Aguilar last February.
Hargett was sentenced in 2007 to 30 years for two counts of second-degree murder and a drug conviction in Baltimore City.
Aguilar was serving 11 years for rape and sexual offenses in Montgomery County, and an assault in Anne Arundel County.
