O'Malley Will Sign Bill To Lure Slots To Rocky Gap
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A spokesman for Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley says the governor will sign a bill slashing the state's share of proceeds from slot machines at the Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort near Cumberland.
The measure is aimed at luring a slots operator to the hotel complex inside Rocky Gap State Park.
An O'Malley spokesman said Monday that the Democratic governor will sign the legislation cutting the state's take from 67 percent to 50 percent for the first 10 years of operation.
Rocky Gap is the only one of five potential slots sites that has failed to attract a serious bidder since Maryland voters approved the locations in 2008.
It would be the smallest of the state's casinos with up to 1,500 slot machines.
