Md. Flooding Claims Life, Snarls Traffic
PORT DEPOSIT, Md. (AP) -- Deadly flood waters are driving people from their homes and slowing travelers in the Baltimore-Washington area.
Anne Arundel County Police said Thursday that a Pasadena man is presumed to have drowned after he was pulled from high water behind his home Wednesday night.
Police say Daniel Lambert, 49, was rescued from water behind homes in the 400-block of Riverside Drive.
In the Susquehanna River town of Port Deposit, about 700 residents are being urged to leave the area as officials open flood gates at the nearby Conowingo Dam.
Prince George's County and the city of Annapolis have opened emergency operations centers to respond to the rising water.
Officials say all three MARC commuter rail lines into Washington were slowed Thursday morning by foul weather and malfunctioning signals.
More flooding is expected as the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee continue to work through the area.
