Md. Driver Charged With NYC Wrong-Way Crash
NEW YORK (AP) -- Authorities say a Maryland man is charged with reckless endangerment and driving under the influence of alcohol after a wrong-way crash on a New York City highway.
Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said Jose Chimbo of Baltimore was awaiting arraignment Monday.
The prosecutor alleges Chimbo crashed head-on into a van filled with 13 teenagers on the Van Wyck Expressway early Sunday.
The teens and their driver were treated for minor injuries. Chimbo's injuries included a broken leg.
Results of a blood test were pending. The prosecutor said Chimbo allegedly told officers that he'd had a few drinks.
Information on his attorney was not immediately available.
